Austrian Princess, later to be one of the most iconic queens of history, Marie Antoinette was a pioneer on a lot of things. As the Queen of France, her public appearances meant everything. Tired of the extravagant couture of the court, she wore her chemise (a dress like undergarment worn by women in 18th century France) at her Hameau de la Reine (the country house she had built for a modest getaway from the palace). During her time at her cottage house, her closest friend, Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, painted the queen wearing her chemise. The painting (La Reine en Gaulle) was later exhibited at the Salon de Paris and caused a big scandal. Inspired by the modesty and free spirit of Queen Marie Antoinette, this 100% cotton Corset is for the pure-hearted who never change, despite all the rumors.
