NANNI was founded in 1981 by Vittorio Nanni, a Milanese architect with a strong inclination towards craftsmanship and design. Milan in the 1980s was, with its lively and vibrant ambience, a perfect source of inspiration for Nanni's stylistic experiments. Metal, in all its variations, and leather met, and something completely new emerged. The workshop is in Via Valsugana, on the industrial outskirts of the old town. The market was overwhelmed and unique pieces like "Subway belts" from 1984 (basically a belt made from a motorcycle chain) became the symbol of the project, consolidating the image and the market. In less than ten years, the company has grown to more than 600 customers all over the world, reaching a production capacity of about 90,000 pieces per year. In 1997, the factory was transferred to Gropello Cairoli, 30 km from the city, in a 3000 m2 factory where all the product assembly phases were brought together. The old location in Milan has been completely renovated and turned into a showroom.
