TINKALU Vintage Brocade Cushion
This is a unique collection of handmade and hand-dyed textiles from northern Vietnam, hand-picked by designer Jan Mirkin-Earley and later sewn together to create one-of-a-kind cushions. All textile patches used are unique. The Vietnamese women of the 'Hmong' minority cultivate hemp and cotton in the traditional way near Sapa, in northern Vietnam. In autumn they harvest and dry the plants and use them to spin and weave these traditional fabrics. The vintage textiles, real finds that are becoming rare as this tradition is dying out, are combined by the designer with new textiles: hand-dyed silk, velvet, cotton and linen. This rare brocade collection consists of beautiful natural cotton throws woven on homelooms in the highlands of Vietnam. Geometric patterns make this collection perfect for any home. The cushions are upholstered in beige/ecru, heavily woven and stonewashed linen and have a zip closure that allows for the removal of the filling for easier cleaning. Please note that due to the age of the materials some cushions may have small stains - these are seen as part of the story and do not constitute a defect.
